Robyn was born in 1976, after completing school education he joined Gary Moore at the training grounds of renowned Woodingdean. Here, he became apprentice to Moore and just one year on from his first ride, aged 20, Robyn rode to victory on Whatever’s Right at Warwick Racecourse.

In his 13 years as a jockey, Robyn achieved 50 wins from 1443 rides with his best season totalling 14 winners in 1999. During this time, he continually sought to understand the conformation of a horse, eventually he left the saddle to focus his career on mastering the mechanics and skills involved in training racehorses.

Robyn replaced Nick Littmoden in December 2015 at Cadland Cottage Stables in Newmarket as a salaried Trainer for the Curran’s of Gazeley Stud. In the following year, he went on to train twelve winners, twelve 2nd, ten 3rd & twelve 4th positions from 87 runners. Winning £25,000 handicaps at Chelmsford City Racecourse with Queensbrydge and Magnus Maximus was the highlight of the year.

Robyn continued to train Magnus Maximum and won a class 2 handicap at Ascot Racecourse, ending the season with a rating of 106, a huge 16 pound official rating improvement from when he started training the horse just 12 months before.

2017 was a pinnacle year for Brisland. Training nine winners in Britain and one winner in France with another highpoint being Zyzzyva taking first in Deauville. By the end of 2017, Robyn established his own training program from the other side of Newmarket with 18 stables at Cleveland House on the Hamilton Road. It wasn’t long before he was among the winners by June 2018, having sent out 7 winners from just 59 runners. The future looks bright for Robyn Brisland Racing and the Cross Channel Racing Team.
